★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 530 reviews · 3 hours (approx.)

Review of Metate Cabo’s Mexican cooking class, with garden tour, cocktails, hands-on dishes, dinner, tips, drawbacks, and booking advice.

“Beautiful place, great food. While the cooking class was nice, it took about 3 hours. It would be fun with a group of friends. Not the best cooking class we have taken and I would suggest you make reservations and let them do the cooking as the food that was being served off the menu looked great. Our chef was nice but he spoke rapid fire English and our group was just too large and most of the time we could not hear him. Instead, go for a great dining experience and not the “cooking” experience. You’ll spend just about the same amount of $$$ and be less frustrated.”

“This class was incredible. A friend recommended it to us, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We made traditional corn tortillas from scratch, learned about the history and cooking process of mole, explored new flavors, and gained a real appreciation for the food, from the ground to the table. Even in a group of 15, the experience felt personal and tailored to everyone’s tastes. The setting was beautiful, and we loved getting to wander around the farm and visit the local market to gather ingredients for our dishes. Miguel, the owner, was an exceptional teacher, engaging, knowledgeable, and truly passionate which made the whole experience one of a…”

Guajillo chiles have a tendency to turn bitter!) He then taught us to cook two dishes, enchiladas with rajas and a fantastic ceviche. We met his adorable dog, talked about the history of Al pastor, and had a really lovely time. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour.”

Shop Mercado 23, make guacamole, tortillas, sopes, enchiladas, and arroz con leche in a small Cancun cooking class with hotel pickup.

“Really enjoyed this class and visit to the market. I was a little nervous reading some reviews after I booked. There was concern that there was not enough hands on experience, but I guess the guide/chef Nassim listened to the feedback because we were definitely hands-on. We did make tortillas from masa and put them on the grill. Nassim cooked them for us. We did wind up using fresh tortillas bought from the market. My guess is that they were more uniform for what we were doing. We made guacamole from scratch. We made sopas and did use those in our cooking. We put together enchiladas. Cut the veggies for…”
